Pregnancy at 18 weeks

I am at 18 weeks of my pregnancy today. I have been doing good so far except for the colds that I still have. Here's some information I got from babycenter.com on how the baby is growing at 18 weeks.

Head to rump, baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and weighs almost 7 ounces. Baby's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that I start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. Blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If it's a baby girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If it's a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them during an ultrasound.

Wow, soon you'll have your first ultrasound! Try to ask if they'll allow you to bring a videocam so if your hubby will go with you he can capture the first ultrasound which is more interesting coz the baby's whole body will fit in the monitor so you can see the baby's whole body moving unlike the second ultrasound where you can only see parts of the baby's body moving coz the baby is big already. Good luck! :)

Yes, my OB said we can also bring VHS tape so he can record the entire ultrasound and see the baby's movements and whole anatomy. Hubby and I are so excited on our next ultrasound this Feb 9th. Hopefully, if the baby cooperates we might find out the gender too.

I wish your baby is not shy to show his/her gender on your next ultrasound appointment. Our baby is a little shy by just covering her face with her fist but I talked to the baby days before my ultrasound appointment to show her gender and she did the first and second time. Good luck! :)
