Prenatal Check Up today

Hubby and I had another OB appointment today for my regular prenatal check up. The nurse checked my weight, I am at 117.8 lbs which showed that I'm gaining more weight. Nurse checked my urine too and she said that it was normal, blood pressure was perfectly normal as well as the baby's heartbeat. My OB came in to measure my tummy and he said that it measured normal. I'm glad that everything went well with my prenatal check up today. My OB said that he is going to see me every two weeks until my 36 weeks and a weekly visit from 36 weeks until I give birth. The nurse hand me a paper entitled "Pregnancy Pathways" at St. Mary's Hospital. Pregnancy Pathways is a one hour, individualized session with a registered nurse from the Maternal-Child unit. Pre -admission forms are completed, questions are answered, patient education is offered and a tour of the facility is provided.

Topics covered may also include:
Admission/Consent
Visitor Policies
Birth Plan Options
Couplet Care
Newborn Medications
Lab Work
Cord Care and
Discharge Packet

Hubby still going to call the hospital and schedule the appointment when we can go there.

Pregnancy at 29 Weeks

Seems like the days are going by so fast yet feels like so slow at times when I get excited about having my baby in July. I'm at 29 weeks of my pregnancy and my tummy is getting bigger and feeling tighter and tighter each day. Things are going well so far. I'm going to have another prenatal this Monday and hoping that everything will be well.

So, how's the baby growing at 29 Weeks? here's a quick information I got from babycenter.com

"Baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day".

This is a diamond wedding band in yellow and white gold retail price is $715 but you can buy this at $299 which saves you 59% off the regular price. What a great deal isn't it? Wish I could buy this for hubby.

Pain in my tummy

I have this pain in the right side of my tummy which feels like it is going to rip open. It also feels like something is slowly slicing my side. I guess this is just a normal feeling specially for a growing tummy since I am at my 28 weeks of pregnancy. I searched online for a similar question asked by other pregnant women and most of them say that it's just a normal feeling and it is due to the stretching of the uterus to give more space for the growing baby inside the tummy.

Great site for mom's to be like me

I am now at 28 weeks and 4 days of my pregnancy. I can’t believe how time flies by so fast. There are only less than 12 weeks to wait until my due date which is on July 4th. He is going to be a 4th of July baby if he comes right in time. Right now my tummy is really getting bigger and bigger and it’s getting more and more uncomfortable each day.
Hubby and I have already started buying some stuffs for the baby like crib, stroller, car seat and baby carrier. I still need to review and go over with my baby checklist and make sure that I have everything I need by the time the baby comes. I still need to find out what other stuffs I should need for the baby and maybe start making a newborn checklist to make sure everything is ready and packed them in a separate bag to take to the hospital when the time comes. I am getting more and more excited as my due date is getting nearer and nearer.
This will be my first baby and a first time mom as well. I have been getting a lot of information with regards to pregnancy, birth and parenting from different websites. Just lately I found another informative site like Tiny Tot Lot which talks a lot about new born babies especially designed for moms to get informed about any topics related to babies. This is really a very informative website Tiny Tot Lot has a lot of informative topics and articles from new born checklist or baby checklist, creating space for your baby like the baby nursery, things you need for your baby’s bedding, keeping your baby healthy, and a lot more articles and tips for moms. It is surely a great source of information online. If you are a first time mom like me and is expecting soon? Do you want to find out if your baby checklist is already complete or still don’t know what else to add on it? Planning to set up a baby shower and don’t know how to do it? Well, Tiny Tot Lot has all the ideas and information you can get so check it out at www.tinytotlot.com and find out more details. What’s more neat about this site is that it also leads you or recommends you to another websites that will help you find the things you need. What a great source isn’t it?

Pregnancy at 28 Weeks

How the baby's growing:

By this week, baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. He blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through his mother's womb. He is also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

How life's changing:

If you are at 28 weeks pregnant like me here are some more information on how life is changing.

You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester.

At this point, you'll likely visit your doctor or midwife every two weeks. Then, at 36 weeks, you'll switch to weekly visits. Depending on your risk factors, your practitioner may recommend repeating blood tests for HIV and syphilis now, as well as doing cultures for chlamydia and gonorrhea, to be certain of your status before delivery. Also, if your glucose screening test result was high and you haven't yet had follow-up testing, you'll soon be given the 3-hour glucose tolerance test. And if the blood work done at your first prenatal visit showed that you're Rh negative, you'll get an injection of Rh immunoglobulin to prevent your body from developing antibodies that could attack your baby's blood. (If your baby is Rh positive, you'll receive another shot of Rh immunoglobulin after you give birth.)

Around this time, some women feel an unpleasant "creepy-crawly" sensation in their lower legs and an irresistible urge to move them while trying to relax or sleep. If this sensation is at least temporarily relieved when you move, you may have what's known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). No one knows for sure what causes RLS, but it's relatively common among expectant mothers. Try stretching or massaging your legs, and cut down on caffeine, which can make the symptoms worse. Ask your caregiver if you should try iron supplements, which can sometimes relieve RLS.

Thank God my bloog sugar is fine

Just had my prenatal check up this morning. I did the Glucose challenge screening test for gestational diabetes. My OB gave me a small bottle of "Glucola" a sweet flavored drink like soda during my last visit and then told me to drink it this morning 30 minutes before my appointment. After an hour they draw blood sample from my finger and checked it to find out my sugar level. Thank God my blood sugar was fine it was at 116 mg/dl which means that I don't have gestational diabetes and hoping that it will be normal during my entire pregnancy. I also had my urine checked and it was ok, the nurse checked my weight and I am 114.8 lbs, checked my blood pressure and said it was normal and monitored the baby's heartbeat. My OB measured my tummy too and after everything is done he said that everything is prefectly fine. My OB recommended me to go to the laboratory for a another blood tests which are CBC and Antibody. I'm thankful to God that everything went well in today's doctor visit. I'm hoping that the blood test results will also be fine.
